1. How do the characters and/or events fit the action adventure genre?

The characters and events fit the action adventure genre in various ways. An example of this is the main character; the reason why this character fits the genre is because he wears a special suit to protect him which allows him to disarm the bombs. This fits the action adventure genre because he’s the only one with the suit which allows him to drive the plot.

Another way the film fits the action adventure is the events. The main event in this movie is the Iraq war. In the war there were suicide bombers, and in the movie the hurt locker has to disarm bombs. In the extract a man has bombs strapped to him.

The soundtrack is used to create effects. However the extract doesn't have music it’s just the characters talking and the hurt locker disarming the bomb. When scenes don’t have music it’s usually to create intensity. Also it focuses more on the dialogue. However there are sound effects a few examples are when the bomb goes of it has a thunder sound to it which adds impact and makes you feel like you’re there, and the you can hear the rock hit the ground.

In the extract there are various cuts between the characters interacting and talking to each other. This makes you feel like they are talking to you and its almost breaking the fourth wall.

In the extract the characters wear militaristic outfits and the hold guns; this adds to the representation of the characters and shows they are in the military.

In the extract there are a few camera shots and angles but not many. Most of them are close ups. This can add intensity because in one of the scenes its close up to the bomb on the man and makes you feel like anything can go wrong. There is another close up when the hurt locker gets blown back by the bomb. This can show how damaging the bomb is. Also there is a shot that is far away that shows how big the area is and how much damage the bomb could cause. Also there are civilians watching from the windows which makes you feel like you’re watching with them.

Tom cruise is William cage in edge of tomorrow he has the rank of an officer but is later enlisted to fight the aliens and he is stripped of his rank. At first he’s not good at fighting but becomes a badass later. This is shown with his costume because he has a suit which gives him extra abilities like strength and reflexes. Tom cruise’s hair doesn’t really show much apart from he’s neat. Tom cruises makeup shows that he has been through a lot of battles and makes him look like a true soldier. As for gadgets and weapons he has them in the exo suit. He can fire shoulder mounted rockets and more. As for vehicles he uses a VTOL jet in some scenes mostly near the end. As for the setting its set in the future and the humans are at war. In the war the humans use suits which are a key part of the action scenes.
